rooftop nap
poem by nappa
published june 26, 2024
the curtains are drawn back
you hear a beautiful rooftop miles away
their souls bringing alive the city side
you're warm, your eyes flutter with the breeze
the rise and fall of curtains entertain your mind
somebody has brought you a glass of ice cold
it fills you with stillness as you listen
to that rooftop miles away
you let yourself start to dream
masterpieces of the sky and trees fill your eyes
you wander through- touching the earth which surrounds you
the faint sound of magic somewhere in the distance
you're so warm- but not hot, just goldilocks
nobody visits you- they leave you to the world
however you feel held by something greater
perhaps you could find a cloud to hitchhike with
maybe the way of the stream will do
never the matter- you don't have to move
you let the earth cradle you above it
it holds you with the green it keeps
you can't remember your last time breathing
and then you find yourself on wood
the rooftop still singing it's morning tune
could this have been it?
it's over, you think... but it isn't something you will ever forget
